About Helix Fairweather:
Helix has been training with operant
conditioning, specifically clicker training, since 1996 and
is truly committed to this way of communicating with dogs.
She teaches Control Unleashed classes (based on the
book by
Leslie McDevitt), dog agility classes, rally obedience
classes, reactive dog classes and pet manners classes at her
home in Oregon and offers private consultations helping
people and their dogs learn to live together and have fun.
She also teaches online agility classes for clicker trainers
to home-school their clicker trained agility dog prior to
taking a local agility class (www.cyberagility.com)
Helix is a contributing author to Clean Run magazine and The
Clicker Journal. She is a faculty member of both the Karen
Pryor Academy for Animal Training and Behavior (www.karenpryoracademy.com)
and Clicker Expo (www.clickerexpo.com). She also presents
seminars on clicker training, reactive dog behavior
modification programs, and clicker trained dog agility.
Helix is a Certified Level 2 Tag Teacher (www.tagteach.com).
Helix has a BS in physics from Oregon State University and
an MS in physics and astrophysics from the University of New
Mexico. She says, “I went off to grad school to be an
astrophysicist and came back home hooked on dog training.”
About Megan Cruz:
Megan has been training animals in
some way or another since she learned to ride horses at age
three. Besides horses, chickens, goats, fish, cats, numerous
small rodents, and of course dogs, she trained and handled
animals for the Oregon Zoo's "Zoo to You" program, which
included ferrets, parrots, snakes, box turtles, and rabbits.
She majored in Zoology with a focus on Ethology at Oregon
State University.
Megan and her husband co-managed a large (100 capacity dogs,
30 capacity cats) boarding kennel/full-service veterinary
hospital/grooming shop in CA for several years, where she
was also resident trainer for board-and-train dogs, as well
as a private lesson instructor. She has continued to teach
private lessons or small group classes since returning to
Oregon, including Beginner and Advanced Control Unleashed
classes (based on the
book
by Leslie McDevitt). She also
teaches GO FOR IT! Relaxed & Ready seminars along with Helix
Fairweather.
In January 2008 Megan completed the Karen Pryor Academy Dog
Trainer
program and is a Karen Pryor certified training partner (www.karenpryoracademy.com). |
